Flowco Limited teams up with E&S Environmental Services Ltd.

Flowco Limited, based in Bangkok, is a major supplier of forecourt equipment, services and maintenance programmes to the fuel retailing industry in Thailand. Along with other Flowco companies in the region, similar products and services are offered in China, Hongkong, Guam, Malaysia and Singapore. Founded in 1993 by Arthur Phillips and three colleagues, Flowco Thailand also conducts business in Cambodia, Laos and the Maldives. Their core business is to provide the full range of equipment required for retail service station operators, together with their installation and commissioning, plus comprehensive after-sales services, preventative maintenance programmes and project management services. A staff of 275 support clients needs, including a 24/7 call centre, software programming, data analysis and workshop services.

Major companies represented include Gilbarco, Veeder-Root, Marley Pump, Fibrelite, EMCO Wheaton, OPW, Nupi and Ryko supplying such items as dispensers, tank gauges, submersible turbines, sumps, flexible piping, fueling accessories and much more. Flowco pride themselves in being a 'one-stop shop' provider to the industry, including design,,construction and site refurbishment to the latest environmental standards.

Thailand began introducing alternative fuels in 2006 and by the end of 2008 virtually all of the country's 10,000 service stations will be offering B5 and B10 bio diesels and E10 and E20 gasohols, plus E85 on some sites. Even before the introduction of these new fuels, microbial contamination in storage tanks was being observed. Now, with the widespread use of these new fuels, the elimination of free water and entrained water have become critical issues, together with the removal of sludge, rust particles and other inorganic matter. Storage tanks and lines have to be free of all such harmful matter to ensure bio fuels are in pristine condition, and stay that way.

On a recent visit to the UK Arthur met up with Nobby and Andrew Clarke of E&S and was impressed with their involvement in solving petroleum clients fuel contamination problems in storage tanks, and in particular in their new custom built mobile fuel polishing and tank cleaning machine )MTC). Following a demonstration, Flowco ordered two machines to be built by Nobby to their exact specifications, and these, together with spare filters and water separators, and E&S's own brand fuel catalysts, were shipped to Bangkok and put to good use immediately.

Nobby and Andrew were invited out to help with the commissioning and in making presentations to the local oil industry. The reaction was positive and to date the demand to remove water, sludge and other contaminates from service station tanks has exceed all expectations. The efficiency of the units, their safety, ability to clean tanks - eliminating the traditional man entry method, and their mobility and flexibility, have impressed hard-nosed oil majors and local brands alike. The fuel catalyst, incorporating a biocide, helps eliminate microbial and fungal growth, with the dead particles filtered out through the MTC unit.

Arthur says, "we anticipated a growing demand for tank cleaning and fuel polishing services and wanted a safe and effective solution to offer our clients. In the E&S unit we have found the perfect answer". "We intend to commission further units to deploy in our other marketing territories and look forward to working with Nobby and the E&S team for many years".

Nobby said "it has been a pleasure to support such a fine company as Flowco and we are pleased to have our proprietary cleaning machines being used to such good effect in Asia". "We are now building more units for export to the Middle East and elsewhere, and intend to help more overseas clients overcome fuel contamination problem.
